A suggested 5-day outline
This route is one way to connect the north’s city life, limestone coast and countryside. Adjust the sequence and length around your arrival, preferred pace and interests.
- Day 1: Arrive in Hanoi, settle in and explore the Old Quarter at an easy pace.
- Days 2–3: Travel to Ha Long Bay for time among the limestone islands, then return towards Hanoi.
- Days 4–5: Continue to Ninh Binh for a sampan journey around the Trang An waterways and countryside before planning your departure.
- If you have more time, discuss a longer northern itinerary or a different balance of city, bay, countryside and mountains.
